Pool, New York and demolished building on my street

May 23, 2008

mikepool

Played Pool with Mike and listened to the Killers, Tracy Chapman and Jane’s Addiction on the jukebox, when I should have been doing OU study.

First couple of days in New York. It was nice but rainy. Just took a few pictures of Brandy’s strangely beautiful apartment.

The building they are demolishing is coming along and looks pretty cool! It’s so ripped open and like a monument.

Building

Not very well today. This is the only time I managed to get through it without coughing terribly. It’s some of the lyrics to Fun Boy Three’s ‘The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum’ with a new tune and guitar bits. I might work on it some more when I’m more with it, but this is a start if I actually want to post things once a week.

No Nuclear The Cowboy Told Us

Hee hee, apologies for the transatlantic accent too.

Oh yes, and if you want to hear the original, click here. Maybe next I’ll steal their beats.

Library

Keep forgetting to bring my camera when I do fun things. Got up early today to find the library as I’m almost living on a university campus and have much studying to do. Met my flatmate Becca for the first time this morning, she’s lovely and will be here till July and then I’ll have the place to myself.

Campus Buildings

Colourful campus buildings.

Architecture

All the different styles.

Demolition

On my way home I find they are demolishing the end house on my street. Haven’t seen that so up close before.

RoofGarden

Tiny roof garden so far… I got these from Clark Park Farmers Market. You can click on the link to see what it looks like, since I didn’t take any photos. There was a lovely lady there selling huge tomatoes – I asked her where I could buy sticks to train my plants up, and she said she would bring me some next week from the farm! Everyone here is genuine and friendly!

Tree

This tree is right next to my roof. I am going to climb it before I leave, a challenge since I’m terrified of climbing. Right, on with some studying…

New Hat

Mike drove me to my new house. It’s great – so much better than I expected. It has carpets (!), a lovely living room and kitchen and Kaelin has left me her amazing hair dryer, which is a treat. Oh yes, and I also got this pink hat at a second hand shop for $2 which is a happy thing.

My Room

So this is my room.

Living Room

And the living room.

Kitchen

Would have taken some of the fun day we had yesterday but couldn’t find my camera till this morning. We went to Reading Terminal Market , had Thai takeaway, and I bought a peach and a Supersteak tomato plant which is going to start off my roof garden. Yes! I have access to fantastic roof through my bedroom window!
